Welcome

Virginia Cottage has been a Dog Friendly Adult Only Guest House for more than 45 years and we make every endeavour to continue the warm and welcoming tradition of the cottage. The building itself is thought to be some 200 years old and was originally two cottages now combined into one. The position of Virginia Cottage is ideal, being a 3-minute stroll to Lake Windermere and surrounded by so many shops and restaurants, and traditional dog friendly  pubs offering a wide variety of locally brewed ales.

Whatever the season the landscape is beautiful. There are lots of places to visit and the small villages in the surrounding areas are very picturesque. This is the place to relax, unwind and enjoy the many attractions of the Lake District. Our wish is to provide quality yet homely accommodation and we will do our utmost to make your stay a memorable one.

All our rooms are dog friendly and free of charge  when booking direct through us. 

We allow for an early check in to avoid the traffic and car parks being full so you can check in between 1pm and 5pm only. We do not accept check in after 5pm. 

Our property is almost 200 years old and has many original features. We have 2 separate staircases with 4 flights on either side so we are not suitable for people with mobility issues and we do not allow mobility scooters due to safety concerns.
